Homer Tennis

The Homer Varsity Tennis Team has had an excellent start to their season with a 6-0 record so far. They had a difficult first game against one of the best teams in their league, Jamesville-Dewitt, but they were able to push through and win 4-3. The team has been doing very well in both singles and doubles, although they did suffer a major blow when junior, Katie Mercer was affected by a leg injury. However, the team kept going strong as Brooke White stepped up to play first singles while Katie is recovering.
The team has qualified for sectionals due to their undefeated record, and the first sectional game will take place on October 3rd. Many players have also qualified for individual sectionals, which is an amazing accomplishment. The team is large compared to most years, so there is a great group of talented exhibition players too. There are five seniors on the team this year, Maddie Jennings, Ana Shore, Victoria Shevchuk, Christine Han, and Abby Gray. The tennis team has some great matches coming up, and they will definitely be very close and exciting.
