Youth and Government Wrap-up

Youth and Government Wrap-up
Molly Burhans

Another fantastic year of Youth and Government has come to an end, and with this end came a new leadership team, both at the state and district levels. Our Governor, Andrew Jacobi, has passed on the incredible responsibility of being Governor to an excellent candidate, A.G. Chancellor IV, from District 7. Kennedy George, our Public Defender has also handed her position to Kayla Guarino from District 7. At the district level, we have a brand new leadership team with Chris Delage as President, Anna Gugerty as Vice President, Beth Gilbert as Secretary, and Matthew Pelowski as Treasurer. These bright, young leaders will do an exceptional job in making sure that the 2016-2017 year runs smoothly.

This year, overall, has been an amazing success. We had a great group of students involved in the club, as well as an outstanding leadership team. In the legislative branch, we had many top-notch bills that were all written correctly, as opposed to bills from other districts. Our Governor did a great job passing and vetoing bills but unfortunately, couldn’t pass some great bills because they were not written correctly. Judicial had immense success this year with every attorney winning their case, and Public Defender, Kennedy George, winning her case. We were also very lucky to have four phenomenal Justices: Beth Gilbert, Joey Esposito, Nina Armideo, and Tighe Gugerty, who was Principal Justice for our district. We also had three delegates from the conference invited to attend CONA: Jordan Laundry, Andrew Jacobi, and Chris Delage. This year was another great success for both District 6, and Youth and Government as a whole.
